Chapter 1: Cell Injury, Cell Death & Adaptations

Understanding how cell injury leads to disease is critical if you want to be an excellent physician. This video for medical students gives an overview of different types of cellular injury. Since cell injury can culminate in necrosis, we'll then segue into a discussion of necrosis and a compare and contrast of the various morphologic types of necrosis.

Here we get into the nuts and bolts of the intrinsic and extrinsic pathway: BAD, BIM, BCL-2, BAX, BAK! I'll walk you through it slowly to show how the pathways unfold!

In this video, I'll compare and contrast hypertrophy, hyperplasia, atrophy and metaplasia. I'll look at some nice examples of each and discuss the risk associated with some of these adaptations.
