Chapter 19: Bones, Joints & Soft Tissue Tumors

This video reviews bone homeostasis to provide background to understanding the pathogenesis of osteoporosis and then compares and contrasts the two types of osteoporosis: senile osteoporosis and postmenopausal osteoporosis.

This video begins with a short overview of how the biology of bone tumors manifests morphologically and radiologically. Next, I go through a compare and contrast of two malignant tumors (osteosarcoma, chondrosarcoma) and two benign tumors (osteoid osteoma/osteoblastoma and giant cell tumor of bone).

Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are two major causes of joint pain. This video for medical students provides a compare and contrast presentation of these two diseases, encompassing the clinicopathologic features and morphologic findings.

I call this "Crystal-Induced Arthritis" but what this is really about is... GOUT! Gout has a very interesting pathophysiology with therapeutic implications. This video for medical students will provide you with the pathophysiologic context so you can UNDERSTAND the pharmacology, not just memorize it!
