Chapter 22: Skin

Inflammatory dermatoses, like all diseases due to immune dysregulation, are complicated. I'll be providing a framework based on the pattern of inflammation: spongiotic dermatitis (acute eczematous dermatitis), interface dermatitis (erythema multiforme, lichen planus) and psoriasiform dermatitis (psoriasis, lichen simplex chronicus). Also highlighting the appearance of these lesions in skin of color.

Pemphigus vulgaris, pemphigus foliaceous, bullous pemphigoid and dermatitis herpetiformis! Does it get any better than that? This video for medical students will go through the pathophysiology of each disease in loving detail so that you don't need to memorize the features... you'll understand them!

This video focuses on "The Big Three" of cutaneous malignancy: squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma and melanoma! I'll go over the pathophysiology and clinical and histologic findings. Of particular interest, this video shows images of these lesions in a wide variety of skin types, from lightly pigmented to darkly pigmented individuals, which will help you recognize these neoplasms in your patients. Delay in diagnosis can lead to higher stage disease and worse prognosis.
