Atherosclerosis has a tremendous impact on morbidity and mortality. This video analyzes the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis as a "response to injury" and addresses the clinical consequences of this disease process.

To understand hypertension, we need to begin by reviewing vascular physiology and sodium homeostasis. A discussion of secondary hypertension follows naturally. Next, we address the pathogenesis of primary hypertension (spoiler alert: we don't exactly know!) and finish with a discussion of the clinical consequences of hypertension, including aortic dissection.
